Random Thought #4 : Mother Earth

If only every human being could look at our world from above, literally. If only it were possible for each of us to stare at the pale blue dot pulsating with the force of life, as we define it, in the vast universal emptiness. If only, each one of use could see how utterly insignificant are the issues over which we maim and murder, and realize that our homes are not characterized by the languages we speak, religions we follow, or the way we look, but the blob of blue , all alone as we know so far, in this universe. If only we could just be Humans , and nothing else . If only we could see our mother, our planet, our only home, the embodiment of Gaia through our own ocular senses. I bet it would bring tears to the hardest souls. Wishful thinking ? I guess it is even beyond that . Doomsday , where art thou ?

" If men could only know each other, they would neither idolize nor hate " - Elbert Hubbard

I remember the awe and amazement we felt, when we first saw a photograph of Earth in school, and I remember wondering if anybody would still use plain white Moon as a symbol of beauty (Bollywood lyrics, ghazals etc) after seeing the greenish blue Earth look so much more beautiful.

The purpose of Religion must have been to create some reverence for 'goodness' and compassion for all that is dependent on our good will, unfortunately it didn't work.

Those who are evolved enough to know all this don't need God's fear to act sensibly, and those who are out to destroy for little personal gains, don't 'think' of God or human values or anything. They don't (can't) think.

As usual a thought provoking post.

Kislay, you are talking like India's famous ancient seers...the ones who instilled tolerance by making man realise how insignificant he was in the awesome universal scale of time and space that could 'see'...

Beautiful........

That is why I like to think that I like “Vedic Hindu Religion”. The forces of nature were the most important gods at that time…. Like agni, vayu, deva etc and not Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma.
At that time, we did respect Mother Earth!!!!

@Ajit
Thank you . But that was not exactly what I had in mind . Earth as a mother in the same way as your country is . And as far as the Gods are concerned , we do have 33 crore of them , but they are different forms of the one and only Him . Hinduism appears to be polytheistic but at the core , it is monotheistic .

Kislay, have you read anything by the Vedic scholar- Principal K.M.Talreja?

He says that when the Vedas were revealed, there were no religions or castes. And so no religious conflicts.

These should be considered only as a convenience for recognition on the earth.

The Vedas belong not only to Bharat but to everyone on this earth.

It is the humans in later times who did not understand this and used the distinctions to divide people.
