...What if I was use a slightly different metaphor?<br /><br />Religion is like a restaurant. The food for your soul is advertised there. The food for your soul ought to cooked by you, as you experience the world through your senses rather than only by a bunch of cooks working at a restaurant. Different religions/faiths/schools thought are like different restaurants. They cater to people who are either too busy or too lazy to cook their own food. Ideally, good food should be nutritious, but restaurants use all sorts of unhealthy ingredients to provide a fake semblance of good taste that hardly lingers on ones palate, much like priests, pastors and maulanas do. And of course, restaurants dont come cheap.
